How is Yag PI performed?
Before the procedure, a topical anesthetic for numbing the eye to ensure less pain during the iridectomy. Additionally, contact lenses are positioned to ensure improved visualization. To correct the aqueous fluid flow, also known as the eye’s drainage system, laser shots are used to make a tiny hole in the peripheral iris after the patient is instructed to sit on the chair in front of the machine with their chin resting on the chin rest and their forehead against the bar.
Despite the fact that iridotomy is both a preventive measure and a therapeutic approach with high precision rates and real-time feedback, it is associated with certain side effects, such as mild discomfort, pain, or redness, along with light sensitivity and temporary vision blur.
If these symptoms worsen and are accompanied by additional symptoms, such as eye bleeding, you should call your doctor right away.
